#ProjectFlashPiction Day 15: PARIS

I met her in a famous bookstore in the heart of Paris. She was wearing a white shirt and old jeans, paired with big brown boots, browsing books in the fiction section of "Shakespeare and Co." She said she was from the Philippines like me, and came all the way west to find her destiny. I invited her for coffee, and she said yes. She is easy going, spontaneous, and brave, everything that I am not. We have spent the whole afternoon until evening discussing books, writers, and ideas. She proved that the probability of falling in love at first sight is real.

"I'm sorry, I need to go home, my aunt will be worried." She raised her hand to get the bill. "It has been fun knowing you. Even if I am far away from home, you somehow made me feel home. Martin, I hope you have a good life."
"Wait, Kat. Don't go yet." I started finding the right words to say. "D-Do you believe in soulmates? I was thinking about what happened today, and perhaps maybe we're soulmates." She chuckled, but I went on. "You may think that this is funny or I am creepy, but I'm afraid that our paths won't cross again in the future and I would regret not getting your number or having a second date. Believe it or not, I felt a spark. A spark between the two of us." It must be the Pinot Noir we drank that made me gather the courage that was non-existent my whole introvert life. I was desperate.
"I have an interview tomorrow, maybe we can go out again after that," she proposed with a beaming smile on her face. "Maybe you can tour me around here. How does that sound?"
